Using a telephone number for ID verification on this site

So that the forum remains the domain of the people of ireland it is important we devise a system that restricts outside use of the site I think it is important that all can comment, but those who vote must be resident in ireland. Without access to PPS databases the nearest thing we have for ID verification is an Irish phone numbers

Points

I agree though about the negative influence of Lobby groups in the USA etc. I propose we limit inclusion to those who have emigrated since 2008. To order to prove they have a stake in Ireland - to authenticate their status send a activation code to their Irish Bank account.(Indicates they are sending money home, have a mortgage, family here etc) Also one needs to be 'in touch' with Irish current affairs to make worthwhile, valid submittals. The 2008 limit is reasonable for this.

A good place to secure funding that will help spread the word about DD principles will be from Irish Ex pats. Many people I speak to are passionate about helping Ireland recover. DDi is how its going to be achieved. You need to include the masses of people who are in a position to donate - Emigrants

Ex Pats still have a stake in Ireland. We still pay mortgages at home and have family. We are victims of the economic collapse that was created by the bankers, the elite etc. Ireland is one of the few countries that denies it citizens casting a vote when aboard - seem to be a way of stopping emigrants from exacting revenge on the politicians that forced us out. I propose: Have a 'Wild Geese' section on the forum to cater for same PayPal or Phone authentication code to sent to Irish Bank accont

It is important that users from outside Ireland are able to contribute to the site with ideas and comment to get the best ideas possible, especially those who have emigrated. One of the dangers of leaving the forum open is that lobby groups from outside the state can influence voting and thus force items up the charts. The best example I suppose is the American based pro-life groups who use Ireland s their project to fulfil their agenda. A lot of money and a lot of people are involved.

Well not a "5 year limit" as such ...If you emigrated from 2008 onwards. The majority didn't emigrate out of choice.
